All classes are held in the modern, spacious kitchen of Warren Kramer who resides in Brighton, MA  (Oak Square).  Please call or e-mail for directions.    

Come join us and check things out!  Please call to register in advance.  We offer a reduced price if you register early vs. calling the day of the event or arriving at the door.  This helps us plan in advance to make sure there are enough people attending to hold the event and to allow us to buy the correct volume of groceries.   

Cooking classes: $40.00 pre-paid or $45.00 at the door.  Full meal served.  Recipes provided.

Special Dinner/lectures (Ethnic Nights!):  Enjoy macrobiotic cuisine from around the world!  These are one of our most popular events.  $35.00 pre-paid or $40.00 at the door. 

Dinner/lecture/Discussions: $30.00 pre-paid or $35.00 at the door.  Lighter meal served and the emphasis is on lecture, discussion and study.  Handouts provided. 

Monthly Community dinner & lecture:  $35.00 pre-paid or $40.00 at the door.  We come together for a feast, socialize and a enjoy brief lecture. 

OPEN HOUSE:  Free!  Once a month an Open House is offered to give you the chance to meet Warren and other people interested in Macrobiotics.  Tea is served and an interesting lecture is presented for reflection and discussion. 

Fresh Start Program (half day): $70.00 pre-paid or $75.00 at the door.  Full lunch meal served.  Recipes and handouts provided.

Lecture: Loving Your Liver   (rescheduled from March)

Our monthly community dinner and lecture event. Please join us for a wonderful meal.

The largest organ in our body has over 500 functions and is very active discharging during the spring. Numerous health issues are related to imbalances with the liver. Eye trouble, fat metabolism, migraine headaches, irritability, joint issues and many others are all connected to the liver. Specific food, remedies and lifestyle will be discussed for better liver health

Seitan, also known as wheat meat is very high in protein, easy to digest, satisfying and delicious and enjoyed by most men. We will prepare a variety of exciting dishes using seitan to show it's versatility. A great transitional food to replace meat or animal protein.

Also known as the five changing states of energy, it is a dynamic model that enables us to strengthen our connection to nature. Warren will discuss how we can use these principles to prepare home remedies. These various remedies are extremely useful to help correct imbalances in the body like blood sugar, digestion, high cholesterol and others.

Lecture: Healing the Heart and Small Intestine

In traditional Chinese medicine the heart and small intestine are paired organs, influencing one another. The heart is our “rhythm keeper” in our life and the small intestine is where we absorb the food we take in. Tonight we will study what interferes with their function as well as how to improve the health of these vital organs during the summer season.

Wednesday, July 23rd Ethnic Dinner: Moroccan Cuisine! Lecture: Healthy Emotions and the Five Transformations 6:00-8:30pm
Please join us for our always-popular ethnic theme dinner. Warren’s lecture will cover how our organs are related to various emotions, both positive and negative. Our emotions give us a sense of the condition of our organs. This dinner follows our trip to Morocco where we plan on sharing some special dishes from our trip!!

In traditional Chinese medicine late summer relates to these organs. Both hypoglycemia and diabetes are common disorders in modern society. Adjustments for the Fall actually begin early August, giving our bodies a chance to adapt to the changing weather. This popular seasonal class will give you an idea of what to do to transition smoothly this season, thereby minimizing colds and other symptoms.

Osteoporosis, osteopenia and other bone issues have become increasingly a concern in society. Even though in the US we have the highest consumption of dairy in the world, we still have the highest rates of osteoporosis. Let’s really look at what is behind this issue and what we can do about it.

Tuesday, August 12th Cooking Class: Wrap it up! Awesome sandwiches and wraps. 6:00-8:30pm
We adore our sandwiches and we think you’ll feel the same about the ones we will prepare tonight. You will sample a variety of wraps and sandwiches that are bound to please anyone. Please register early for this class and bring a container in case you would like to bring some leftovers home.

Wednesday, August 20th Ethnic Dinner: Chinese Cuisine! Lecture: Allergies, Asthma and Skin Disease 6:00-8:30pm
Please join us for our always-popular ethnic theme dinner. These three health issues are practically chronic problems in modern society. There is a very interesting connection between the three of them that Warren will point out. The macrobiotic approach in treating these conditions will be discussed.

Thursday, August 28th Dinner/Lecture: Chronic fatigue? Creating Dynamic energy for life . 6:00-8.30pm
Tiredness and fatigue are the number one health complaint in modern society. It is said that all illness begins with fatigue. In this important lecture, Warren explains the cause of our fatigue and how to have more energy for life without relying on coffee and sugar to pick us up. An essential topic for anyone concerned about health.

Wednesday, Sept. 3rd Dinner/Lecture: Strengthening the Lungs and Large Intestine during the Fall  . 6:00-8.30pm
This is the time of year that the lungs and large intestine are more active. Issues with these organs often manifest during this season. Upper respiratory issues and elimination problems are common. Tonight we will study how to support these organs. Diagnosing these organs will be discussed as well.

Lecture: Acid/Alkaline balance for optimal health.
It is universally agreed upon that for strong health humans need to maintain a slightly alkaline condition. In fact, fatigue means that our blood is acidic due to an imbalance with diet and activity. Following cooking class and lunch, Warren will lecture on this important topic.

Questions often come up regarding where certain nutrients are found in the macrobiotic diet. Concerns over lacking certain nutrients, cooking destroying nutrition, supplementation and other issues will be discussed.

Nourishing the spleen/pancreas and stomach for the season. Very few people have stable blood sugar in our society. This is evidenced by how much coffee and refined sugar we consume on a daily basis. We will explore how to support these organs for the season and how to reduce our dependence on these stimulants.

A very thought provoking lecture looking at the nature of sickness and disease.  Very often people misinterpret what is going on in their body.  What is often perceived as “illness” is in fact the body just trying to return back to balance, a very natural adjustment.  People then take drugs for what is simply a natural process further creating other imbalances.  This topic is a must to understand for holistic healing.
